The Vespers CD Release Show

3 Apr

The Vespers have quickly become one of my favorite local bands, and not just because they’re incredibly nice people with ties to Dairy King, one of the best home-cooked meat-n-three restaurants in Nashville.

They consist of two groups of siblings (Callie and Phoebe Cryar, Taylor and Bruno Jones) and offer some great Americana music. They even got a sweet write-up in the Huffington Post and just got back from a tour of the Northeast.

They’re the real deal and they’re playing their biggest show ever today – as their record release party. It’s completely free, even parking, so you have no excuse to not find yourself there tonight. So come on out and celebrate the release of The Fourth Wall with them.

It starts at 8pm at the Boone Center at Trevecca University. It’ll be live-streamed by Music City Roots and Live It Now Entertainment.

Miller Made Music Showcase and Kink Ador CD Release Party

25 May

This isn’t the first Miller Made Music Showcase in recent memory. In fact, last December Miller brought the rock by putting on an awesome free show with The Protomen,Parachute MusicalTallest Trees, and Majestico.

Well, it’s time for another great, free 21+ show. This Thursday, May 27th at the Mercy Lounge Keegan DewittKink AdorThe Vespers, and Paper Route will be playing. It looks like a good mix of bands I’ve heard of and a few I haven’t, but that might just be because I’m not very up-to-date on local bands.

It’s going to be an especially big night for Kink Ador, who will also be celebrating the release of their new album, which features the song “Animal,” a song you might have heard for free if you have an Android. The phone’s music player comes with that song pre-loaded. The video is cool and although the song isn’t really my thing I can understand the appeal (I cannot, however, understand a word the singer is saying). It’s kind of bluesy indie rock and not really too unlike the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Again, the event is on Thursday, May 27th at the Mercy Lounge at 9pm and is 21+. You can RSVP to the event on Facebook.
