July 4th Highlights

Nashville for Free wishes you a safe and fun July 4th! I went over it briefly in the Weekly Highlights, but I thought I’d collect all of today’s best free events right here for your money-saving enjoyment.

Hot Chicken Festival in East Park – 11am-3pm
Its the annual celebration of one of Nashville’s most unique dishes! Get there SUPER early and you could even score some free hot chicken. Either way, I highly suggest getting there early, or you’ll find yourself waiting in line for 90 minutes.

Free Day at the Frist Center – all day
But only if you wear red, white and blue (but I’m sure you already were, eh?).

Let Freedom Sing! Music City Independence Day Celebration at Riverfront Park – noon-10pm
Grammy Award-winning and critically-acclaimed country rock group, The Mavericks will headline the city’s annual “Music City July 4th: Let Freedom Sing!” celebration along the riverfront. The show line-up will also include country artist Craig Morgan, rising star Sarah Darling, The Music City Hit-Makers featuring Brett James and Hillary Lindsey and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra (NSO) led by Associate Conductor Kelly Corcoran. The concert begins at 6pm.

Franklin Fourth of July Celebration Happening at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm – 11am-9pm
Some of the fun happenings at Franklin’s July 4th celebration include a hot dog eating contest (wouldn’t be 7/4 without one!), live music, and, of course, fireworks! Fireworks start at 9pm. See the full list of events here.

Patriotic Concert and Ice Cream Social at Pennington UMC – 6pm
Who can turn down free ice cream? Can you? I can’t. Especially if waffle cones are involved.
