59th Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting: Christmas Around the World at Public Square

Tonight’s the night! In case you’re one of those people who doesn’t know when it’s officially okay to start getting ready for Christmas, it’s definitely tonight. That’s because the 59th Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting is tonight at 7pm!

The parade starts at LP Field crossing the Woodland Street Bridge (if it gets cleared after that barge ran into it), west down 2nd Avenue and marching down Broadway. Vince Gill is the Grand Marshall, which pretty much makes him and his wife king and queen of Christmas in Nashville this year (Amy hosted Lipscomb’s tree lighting). There will be marching bands, cars with people waving from them, and, of course, Santa.

Also, the big tree in Public Square will be lighted with Vince and Mayor Karl Deen. If you were looking for a traditional way to start the Christmas season you’d be hard-pressed to beat this.
