Kenny Vaughan and Friends at 12 South Taproom

The first time I saw Kenny Vaughan was a month ago at the Americana Festival. I don’t know why I waited so long to see him, especially since I used to live blocks away from where he does a weekly free gig at the 12 South Taproom. I knew that I should get out and see him, especially since he’s playing with some awesome people, Lucinda Williams and Marty Stuart for example. Well, it took me forever to see him, and I hate cliches, but seriously, better late than never.

Kenny really is one of the bests guitarists in the business. He can weave a story with it like the jazz greats could with their horns. He’s spent the years playing country, rock, and punk and he blends those influences to create a really distinct sound.

But I really hate dissecting music, so let’s just say that he’s really really good and leave it at that. Kenny plays for free tonight at 9:30pm at the 12 South Taproom. Don’t make the same mistakes I made – get out and see this dude bring it.
