DJ Jonathan Toubin’s Soul Clap and Dance-Off at FooBar

I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve been to a show expecting people to dance only to find…no one dancing. Especially in Nashville. Maybe it’s the lack of elbow room at some venues or maybe it’s this weird city-wide shyness, but I would LOVE to go out sometime and see more people getting their groove on like no one is watching.

That’s why I was excited to hear about the Soul Clap and Dance-Off at the FooBar tonight. Not only is dancing highly suggested, there’s a $100 incentive for it. Yep, it’s a dancing contest. For hipsters and lovers of awesome, awesome music alike.

Judges will include Mimi Galbierz from Heavy Cream, Ben Swank from Third Man, Stein of Turbo Fruits, Ben Todd of Nashville’s Dead, FooBar’s Shorty, Anna Lundy from Grimey’s, and Teresa Mason of Mas Tacos. New York City’s DJ Jonathan Toubin will be spinning the hell out of some 45s for your dancing pleasure. Did I mention the whole thing is free?

Things will get started at 10pm or so, so bring your dancing shoes (complete with gel insoles) and make sure you stretch. $100 and a whole lot of fun is at stake tonight.
