Despite hailing from Long Beach, Cali, the Cold War Kids have a definite affinity for Nashville. In addition to recording their last record here with the famed Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Mutemath, Modest Mouse, Tom Waits), they have an in with our buddy Jack White and played a super awesome, super exclusive show at Third Man Records back in December. For those of us who missed that show, there are plenty of videos up on YouTube that are, for sure, worth the watch. The Cold War Kids have always found a way to capture that Nashville vibe, and–despite the near universal panning of Mine is Yours–we won’t mind if they throw the Nashville name behind their catalogue.
Well, the Cold War Kids are coming home again tomorrow night to play the Cannery Ballroom (see what I did there?), but before that they’re going to pack Grimey’s to capacity and blow the roof off with a free in-store performance! Now, you know that space in Grimey’s is limited (even when they aren’t hosting a nationally-touring artist) and you’ll want to get there early. Supply and demand: there’s only one Cold War Kids and there’s several hundred people that would love to see their in-store. You do the math. So the dedicated will prevail, and there are a lot of dedicated people in Nashville. Heck, I’m even skipping my night class to camp out early. Well, I was looking for an excuse to skip anyway…
So here’s the scoop: show is at Grimey’s and starts at 6:30pm. Personally, I’m going to try my luck a couple hours early, and I’ll make sure to update y’all on the attendance. It’s gonna be a cold one today, so bundle up. Happy Monday!
