Live at the Green Presents Dr. Dog

The definition of grit

Sometimes I find it really hard to get excited about a free show that’s coming to Nashville. I know that hundreds of other people were just totally pumped to get to see Five for Fighting last week, and that’s all well and good and I’m happy for those people, but man, that’s just not my thing. I need a little more grit in my rock.

That’s where this week’s Live on the Green show comes into play. Dr. Dog, that fantastic psychedelic rock group from Philly, is making a stop in a town they obviously love coming to (I think they’ve been in town at LEAST once a year since I’ve lived here).

The last time I saw Dr. Dog live was Valentine’s Day 2008. Not only did they put on a great show, but at the end they brought out some dude dressed up as Gumby and threw out dozens of roses into the crowd. Now that’s what I call class. Yes, that’s right, in 2008 my Valentine was Dr. Dog. Best. Date. Ever. Non-date. Whatever, it was fantastic.

Dr. Dog is playing at Live on the Green this Thursday. Opening for them are two other great local bands, Apache Relay and Glossary. Things get to business around 6:45. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
