The Dusty 45’s. I’m not going to lie, I’ve never heard of them before. I figured that if they were playing at Grimey’s they had to have something going for them, and in my research I found this picture. There were actually a few pictures of this happening, and the idea that this is a common occurrence in their live shows makes me very excited.
As far as the music goes, these guys don’t disappoint. Grimey’s describes them as a mix of styles from “jump blues and rockabilly to honky tonk and ‘pure rock'” and yeah, that’s a pretty good description. If you like Elvis, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, or anyone like that then you’re going to dig this.
They’re based out of Seattle where they’ve been voted Seattle’s Best Band in Seattle Weekly, so obviously they’re a big deal here, but they’re still relatively unknown here in Nashville. So jump on the bandwagon early. Get your pompadour ready, and make sure your bowling shirt is ironed!
The in-store is tonight, Friday June 25th at Grimey’s at 6pm.
